To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) illness, the Governor's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order has mandated that all schools in Washington close through the remainder of the school year. For Family Resources and Information during the COVID-19 School Closure, visit the district website

Marie Riley

We would like to congratulate Marie Riley for earning the Golden Acorn Award this year. Marie is one of the most generous volunteers we have at FCES. This past school year she was our Volunteer Coordinator, securing volunteers for all our events. Additionally, she has chaired the Fall Teacher Conference Luncheon, Holiday Cookie Boxes, Food Drive and Spring Basket Fundraiser for several years. Marie was the secretary on the PTSA board for two years and stepped up to help at the beginning of this year as our Co-VP of Communications while we needed some extra help. Thank you Marie, for always being willing to help out in whatever capacity you’re needed! You truly make a difference for our students and the PTSA!

Robin Earl

Congratulations Mrs. Earl for earning the Golden Acorn Award this year! Robin flawlessly transitioned into the principal role again this year while Mrs. Long was out on maternity leave. During that time she worked with the PTSA to bring Snoqualmie Valley Community Network’s #BeKindSV campaign to FCES. The SVCN’s #BeKindSV campaign supports a positive school climate by introducing, modeling, and reinforcing kindness and inclusion. In addition to teaching kindness, Mrs. Earl embedded FCES’s focus on empathy into the campaign. Thank you Mrs. Earl for all of your time and effort teaching our students the importance of kindness and empathy!

Trese Rand

We can’t think of a more deserving person than Trese Rand, for the Golden Acorn Award. Trese has spent countless hours gifting our students with her talents. Over the last two years Trese has volunteered her time during our PTSA General Membership Meetings. She taught art to students so their parents were able to attend the meetings uninterrupted. Additionally, Trese has always gone above and beyond teaching art classes at FCES. A prime example of this was when schools were closed in March due to Covid-19. Trese took it upon herself to begin teaching free online art classes to students. But she didn’t stop there. She got donations from Ben Franklin in Redmond and used her own personal money to purchase and supply students with special art materials. Thank you Trese, for all of your time, love and support! We are so very appreciative for the positive impact you make on our students!

Wondering what you can do to help the PTSA? Here’s your chance! The PTSA works with Principal Long, the staff at FCES and parents to find out what programs and events we love having at our school. All of these programs and events benefit the students at FCES. We are fortunate to have numerous volunteers who chair the amazing events and programs at FCES. 2020-2021 school year. Several of the positions are only for a short period of time, but can’t happen without your help!

Kindergarten Bus Help: Help get volunteers to assist kindergarten students getting off the bus in the morning before school. Students will need help finding their way to their classes during the first week of school.

SBA Snacks: Solicit donations and purchase snacks for SBA testing. Organize snacks and distribute them to teachers.

Spelling Bee: Organize and run the school-wide Spelling Bee. The previous chair is available to answer questions.

Staff Appreciation: Organize Classified Appreciation Week. The previous chair is available to answer questions.

Walk-A-Thon Co-Chair: The WAT Co-Chair will be assisting the current chair with WAT this year. We are looking for someone who will be willing to take on the role of WAT chair position in the future as this will be the current chair's last year.

Walk-A-Thon Treasurer: WAT will hopefully take place in the spring this year. The WAT Treasurer would ideally have some experience in accounting or banking. This person will work closely with the WAT Chair and will be responsible for collecting and counting the money throughout the WAT event.

Congratulations to our newest board members Jamie Weir, our new Vice President; Amy Gagnon, who will be taking on the role of Co-VP of Communications, and Chris Rotell, our new Treasurer. Welcome!
